Camping With Kids - Fun Things to Do With Kids on a Camping Trip

Camping trip for kids is best enjoyed if there are a lot of things for them to do. Many people might think that camping trip for kids would be difficult to keep them from becoming bored. But there are many activities that are fun and will be memorable if only you know how. Here are some fun things to do when camping outdoor with kids.

Get wet and go splashing

Hopefully where you are camping there will be a place to swim. Kids love to swim especially in lakes or brooks. Swimming in a nature's pool can be much enjoyable than swimming in a man-made pool. Be sure that the area is safe for swimming. Camping parks have safety reminders that will tell which ones are good and which ones are not. Most important, never leave your kids swimming in the area alone. Camping trip for kids must prioritize safety above all else.

Bike together

Most camping sites have great bike trails. Be sure to brink bikes along with you or find where you can rent them. When the view is great, riding bicycles can be very fun. It is faster and cooler compared to when travelling on foot. A map is essential to bring with you on your trip so you won't get lost. Younger children must be monitored by an adult. For older children, it is best to not ride too fast so they can enjoy the ride more.

Watch for birds and animals

Camping trip for kids is made more fun through watching birds and animals. Most camping sites and forest parks have primers and leaflets about several animals living in their area. Bring books that would serve as your guide in learning about the animals living in that area. Keep your children safe and be on the lookout so that they won't disturb the animals.

Play games in the outdoors

Nothing beats the time-tested games when done in a kid's outdoor camping. May it be the classic tug-o-war, sack race, or just plain tag. Play within a clear area to minimize accidents.

Organize a scavenger hunt

Kids yearn for quests and adventures. Scavenger hunts can be a great alternative to take advantage to that camping trip for kids you organize. It is more of physical work out, so it allows your kids' muscles to exercise. Make sure to warn them about prickly and poisonous plants, though.

Learn how to read maps and compasses

A great way to teach navigation is through a kids' outdoor camping trip. Use your map and compass while exploring the forest. Show the kids where you are in the map and point to them the direction as to where you are heading. This is possible while doing the scavenger hunt.

Light a campfire

This is the most awaited part during a camping trip. This is the best way to end the day. While gathering around the campfire, sing songs and tell stories. Ghost stories are good but make it lighter so that kids can still enjoy. Roast marshmallows and hot dogs. Play word games or riddles.

A great game to play around the campfire is the story game. This is where one person starts a story and tells a sentence or two, then they stop and the person to their right pick up and adds a few more sentences to the story. Each person has the freedom to take the story in any direction thy want. It can be loads of fun.
